Pregnant moms will get priority for swine flu vaccine
In the last few days, you may have seen some news coverage about swine flu (also called H1N1) and its effect on mother and baby during pregnancy. With flu season just around the corner, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is giving priority to pregnant women and putting them at the front of the line of people who should get the swine flu vaccine first when it becomes available. Other groups at the top of the list are:
• children and young adults up to age 24
• people who live with or care for babies younger than 6 months of age
• health care providers
• people with chronic health conditions or compromised immune systems

No mother or child should receive the flu vaccine or swine flu vaccine when it comes available. There are 14.5 to 25 micrograms of mercury in flu vaccines. One microgram is considered toxic. In receiving flu vaccines will increase your infants chance of developing autism, ADHD, asthma and other neurological disorders. Keep your immune system strong by eating healthy food, taking quality supplements and getting plenty of sleep.

Dear Deborah:
Flu vaccines are now available without mercury. So if you or others are concerned, please ask your health care provider for a mercury-free vaccine. A mercury-free version of the swine flu vaccine will be available.
You raise an important issue that has been much debated. Several years ago, some people were concerned that vaccines containing a preservative with mercury might be linked to autism and other health conditions.
Since that time, much research has been done. A large majority of health experts now believe that such preservatives do not pose a serious health risk. At the same time, manufacturers have started making mercury-free vaccines.
When considering any medical treatment, we have to weigh the risks and benefits. Almost all medical professionals believe the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks they carry. Vaccines prevent very serious diseases that can be life-threatening.
