Exercise after giving birth
If you’ve just had a baby, you may want to get back into shape but you’re probably exhausted and you need to take it easy for a while. Pregnancy-related changes in bodily systems last for about 4 to 6 weeks after giving birth, so you should start or resume exercise slowly. If you feel pain or have other unusual symptoms during a specific activity, you should stop that activity (or do fewer repetitions or a shorter routine). If you had a cesarean birth, you should not exercise strenuously until your health care provider gives you the go-ahead.
