Exercise after giving birth

If you’ve just had a baby, you may want to get back into shape but you’re probably exhausted and you need to take it easy for a while. Pregnancy-related changes in bodily systems last for about 4 to 6 weeks after giving birth, so you should start or resume exercise slowly. If you feel pain or have other unusual symptoms during a specific activity, you should stop that activity (or do fewer repetitions or a shorter routine). If you had a cesarean birth, you should not exercise strenuously until your health care provider gives you the go-ahead.

Watch this video with Dr. Siobhan Dolan for some pointers and don’t forget that walking is great exercise. And speaking of walking, don’t forget that March for Babies is right around the corner!
